9. BISHOP THOMAS CHAPEL

Tucked away in the north choir aisle behind the choir is the chapel dedicated to the cathedral's founder, Bishop Mesac Thomas. He is buried just outside the east window of the chapel. This spot is used for small weekday services of Holy Communion and for the saying of the Daily Office.
The east window shows the Resurrection. On the left, Peter and John discover the empty tomb; on the right Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene in the garden on Easter morn. In the large figure of the tracery above these two lights, Jesus Christ steps out of the tomb bearing the pennant of his triumph over death - this is the traditional medieval picture of Christ's Easter Victory.
